8th Annual Jefferson Civil War Symposium, 8/9 - 8/10/2019

According to FindAGrave,Pvt. Wylie Matthew Pierce has/had a brother buried at Shiloh Cemetery who died in 1862 at age 23 or 24. Nothing there or at the cemetery that suggests he was a veteran. His age and death in 1862 makes me wonder.

According to FindAGrave, this soldier also buried at Old Shiloh Cemetery is Pvt. Pierce's half-brother. The gravestone is hard to read. He was in the 19th Texas Infantry.

Ever since you mentioned that cemetery I have been trying to place it in my mind, and am still drawing a blank. I grew up in Rusk County after all, it must be in the Southern part of the county.

It is on SH315 very near the Rusk/Panola County line. I think the nearest town before you get to it going southbound on 315 is Clayton. It's between Clayton and Mt. Enterprise on 315.

Never seen a gravestone like this. No information on him at FindAGrave. Couldn't find anything at the NPS Soldiers and Sailors Database or Ancestry either.

A good bit of information on this soldier at FindAGrave:

I had forgotten about that and didn't think to ask her but I can make inquiries.

I'm betting that from the date McCormack was probably a veteran on Span.-Am. or WWI instead of the Civil War.
If he lived to be 80+ years old,he could've been a CW veteran. I'm guessing the flags are put there at that cemetery by a local SCV Camp or UDC Chapter. Must be a reason for it.

The gravestone of Harvey Wallace is 4-sided. On 2 sides are inscriptions for 2 of his children. The 4th inscription is for a Wife of a Revolutionary War Soldier. It's unclear to me what her relation to Harvey Wallace was. Accoring to her FindAGrave page, she outlived her Revolutionary War Soldier husband by 40+ years and he is buried in a family cemetery in South Carolina:

A brother of the soldier in post #55 above. Couldn't get a good pic of the gravestone because of the flowers. There's a better pic on the FindAGrave page:
