We were organized on July 18, 1862, in Elmira. We were mustered in for a term of a three-year enlistment. Our first service was at Washington D.C. and then served in the Union Army of the Potomac and Union Army of the Cumberland. We were at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. We also served in the Atlanta Campaign. We finished our service in the Carolina’s campaign. One of our Colonel’s was named after a bird, or you could say the name rhymes with Rain. We were mustered out of service on June 5th. What is the regiment described above and their nickname?
