Old "I don't care for him one pinch of owl dung", Samuel Sturgis. Sturgis was the colonel of the 7th Cavalry, but I do not recall if he was on active with it.I was a veteran of many Civil War battles, including Wilson’s Creek, Antietam and Brice’s Cross Roads where I tangled with Nathan Bedford Forrest and lost.
Who am I?
What connection did I have with the Battle of the Little Big Horn?

His son, James Sturgis was a 2nd lieutenant assigned to "E" Company, 7th Cavalry. His James Sturgis died at Little Big Horn, though his body was never found
