UNION FIRST CORPS, FIRST DIVISION,
FIRST BRIGADE (THE "IRON BRIGADE") 1,814 men
BRIGADIER GENERAL SOLOMON MEREDITH

He was nicknamed "Long Sol" for his towering 6' 7" body. That would make him distinctive and they both worked as wood cutters , store clerks, and in politics
Lincoln was 6' 4".

Edit - See edit to post # 3. The other items would not be unique distinctions.

Brigadier General (and Bvt Major General) Solomon Meredith was nicknamed "Long Sol." There were several characteristics about Meredith that made him distinctive among Union generals: he was a tall, gaunt 6'7" tall; he was born in Guilford County, North Carolina; and his grandfather was a Revolutionary War soldier. But the attribute that made him so distinctive to President Lincoln was that he was Lincoln's only Quaker general.
