20 years ago a group of friends and I purchased an original Napoleon, carriage and limber.. It came with a #2 prolong and I have been told it is original and I have been told it is probably a reproduction. I am attaching some images that are photos of photos so I apologize for any loss of clarity. What i can tell you is that it is a 3 strand rope .. See attached images. Any input would be helpful.

Its hard to tell from the photos but are the rings complete round with no breaks in the metal. The hook and other items appear to be blacksmith made as I see hammer marks. Also it should be 26' 7" long.

Measurements of prolong show it to be 26' 9" from end of rope to end of rope (stretched). If measuring from end of hook to end of ring we get 27' 8"
Rings show no seams or welds.. Cannot tell if the D rings have any seams under the lashing.

Looks right as rain to me and the extra 2 inches is probable from stretching. Nice Piece

Great news.. I just got that gut feeling it was but it is in such good condition that it will fake you out in that regard... Question??? Who would be able to put a value on something like this? We are selling the gun and its equipage and I need some information on this part.
