Major General Lewis Wallace, (1827-1905). Wallace was testifying about the importance of Naval gunfire on February 15, 1862, during the siege of Fort Donelson. He said, in part, "While my Division was engaged, the guns of the Fleet opened fire again. I recollect yet the positive pleasure the sounds gave me."
