Who said the following and about whom?
"Was to good for this earth"

bonus

I came out of Charleston in Eighteen sixty-three,
fifty feet of fighting power to attack my enemy.
I looked like a ship; and some say a submarine,
and to see me in the water, I looked like something in-between.

In October of ’63 I was ready to be tried,
as I left Charleston harbor with help from an ebb tide.
My target was a Yankee ship a most impressive size,
if I could sneak up and fire - t’would be the grandest prize.

I was ballasted and designed to be mostly submerged,
and with my “top side” painted blue, to Yankee ships I’d surge.
So as I floated to that Ironclad, I could hear them shout,
“What boat is that!!” was their cry as I fire to take them out.

I was unaware that after my torpedo was released,
the water would come back on me, and I would be besieged.
It seems that soon all was lost, my crew abandoned me,
for on that night, they had no plans, to meet their enemies.

Thank goodness that my pilot, did not know how to swim.
for he allowed me to float on, so the Yankees would not win.
Although we both were damaged, and we'd both would “limp” away,
we would continue in our service to fight another day,

I had a reputation for a boat that was so small,
for when I faced the Union boats, I would feel so tall.
I faced the Yanks with my torpedo, and tried to make them pay.
my small boat, against their giants that I would try to slay.

1. What was the name of the Confederate torpedo boat?
2. What was the name of the Union ironclad?

Main question: Abe Lincoln about Willie Lincoln

Who said the following and about whom?
"Was to good for this earth"

Abraham Lincoln is said to have said of his late son William 'Willie' Lincoln: "My poor boy, He was too good for this earth. God has called him home. I know that he is much better off in heaven, but then we loved him so much. It is hard, hard to have him die!"

My response to the first part: This quote was said by Abraham Lincoln about his son, William Wallace Lincoln, a/k/a Willie, upon his death on February 20, 1862 in the famous Lincoln bedroom. The complete quote is as follows: "My poor boy, he was too good for this earth. God has called him home. I know that he is much better off in heaven, but then we loved him so, it is hard, hard to have him die."
My responses for the bonus question are as follows: the name of the Confederate torpedo boat was the "David" and the name of the Union ironclad was the "USS New Ironsides." David.

Regular Question:
Abraham Lincoln said that about William Wallace "Willie" Lincoln (21 December 1850 – 20 February 1862)
Lincoln said to secretary John Nicolay, "Well, Nicolay, my boy is gone -- he is actually gone." Then he broke down in tears. "He was too good for this earth." http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs013/1102264498897/archive/1109316204271.html
