I know there are some pretty saavy folks here on this type gun and I would appreciate any info .

It is for sale and I would like to own one but I am an idiot about these .

Thanks

Dave

A really nice Colt! The carved passageway under the grip strap for a lanyard is a modification accepted by many as being done by Confederate mounted guerrilla troops. The reason for it was because they often had a pair of revolvers hanging around their neck, along with other revolvers in holsters. Much of this information is from first hand accounts.
As for the revolver in question.....if offered to me, at a not crazy money price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it!

That's a beauty! Thanks for sharing! Hope you get it!

Well for better or worse I bought it .

Kinda nice to have one that was actually in the war . My NJ marked M1861 Trenton musket for sure was not .

Wedge and arbor match , arbor is tight and bore is good .

Probably a serviceable gun .

NO I do not intend to shoot it .

THANKS to all that helped as I would not have bought it without your help .

I think you did good, it appears to be solid, matching numbers, cartouche, so you know it was "there". And if you got it for 1,600, you did really good. Congrats.

Thanks again and this ones on you folks . Never would have bought it without the nod from here .

Price was $1,600 delivered to my door .

Jobe - Rather be lucky than good sometimes and the " Confederate " thing was a joke ?

It did get me to not remove the lanyard anyway .

What is a good book on these ?
