159-year-old Union flag from Civil War returns home to Maine

I have doubts about this being a war date flag due to what appear to be brass grommets on the hoist. Maybe it was semi restored using the grommets or maybe this was a post war reunion flag. War date regimental flags had sewn grommets on the hoist (or ties), were made of silk and were 6' X 6'. The flag is also of the later war period, after West Virginia was recognized. The flag may simply be one that flew at one time in Texas and brought home as a memento. As has been said in earlier posts, family members finding memorabilia from an ancestor many times attribute things incorrectly.
