Today Marks the 157th Anniversary of the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House Virginia. This Battle will be fought May 9th - 21st. The Result will be Inconclusive. The Confederate Commander will be General Robert E. Lee Commanding the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia with a force of 50,000 - 63,000. Losses and casualties will be 1,515 Killed, 5,414 Wounded and 5,758 Captured or Missing. The Union Army will be commanded by Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant and Major General George G. Meaded commanding Union Army of the Potomac and the IX Army Corps. Losses and casualties will be 2,725 Killed, 13,416 Wounded and 2,258 Captured or missing. Please remember these men who lost their lives in this battle.

One of the longest, bloodiest, and savage encounters of the war. It’s been years since I visited the Mule Shoe area but I’ll never forget suddenly feeling chilly ...in August in Virginia... thinking of May 12, 1864.
