Today marks the 156th Anniversary of Lt. General Richard Taylor's surrender at Citronelle Alabama. This was three weeks after the surrender at Appomattox Virginia by General Lee. Taylor had a command of 12,000 of the Confederate Department of East Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Taylor devised the "March 50, Rest 10" technique in the Valley, which caught Jackson's eye. Should he have had a major command? I think so.
