Mike's 44th Birthday Bonus!

My brother and I were born in what is now Germany. We came to America in the 1830s and set up a tinsmithing business. With the outbreak of war in 1861, we began making weapons. We had a very large factory employing 400 workers but had difficulty meeting production because of a lack of skilled machinists. The government bought our works in 1864. Examples of our work are highly prized by collectors.
Who are we?
What was the name of our wartime company?
Where was it located?

Regular question:

John Pope

Bonus:

1) You are Louis and Elias Haiman
2) Not sure which business the question is asking for, could be Haiman's Sword Factory founded in 1861 or Columbus Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, also established by the Haiman brothers, in 1862. The sources are not quite clear (at least not to me) if that is one and the same business, changing names or two different ones, and if they were two separate ones, which one was bought by the Confederate government in 1864: some sources say the Sword Factory, others say the Columbus Firearms Manufacturing Company. Therefore I hope both names will count as correct.
3) Columbus, Georgia, exactly at this location:

John Pope (1822-1892).

As to how pantaloons buttoned in front came into fashion, General French writing of his life at West Point, proceeds: "John Pope, better known as General Pope, when on furlough returned to West Point with nice linen pants with straps at the bottom and open down the front.
It caught the eye of Major Delafield, superintendent of the academy. He saw the advantage of Pope's breeches over the broad flap buttoned at the side and, notwithstanding the protest of Mrs. Delafield, who was reported to have said 'The cadets thus dressed should not come in person to the house with their account books for orders', the stern old soldier gave the tailor permission to make the cadet pants open in front, and that consigned to oblivion the broad flap pants. West Point... then set the fashions. Pope's pattern of breeches are now worn by all Christian men and some that are not of that religion.

Part 2
A. Who are we? The brothers
Louis and Elias Haiman originally from Prussia
Source as below.

B. What was the name of our wartime company?
The company was variously referred to as Haiman & Brother and Haiman & Bro. and Louis Haiman and Brother and L. Haiman & Brother.
Interestingly the Historical Marker Database simply lists it as Haiman’s Sword Factory
The Haiman Brothers also set up in 1862 the Columbus Firearms Manufacturing Company to produce revolvers. This was generally unsuccessful producing only a few hundred guns, which today are highly prized along with their sabers and bayonets.

Question
It seems that Cadet John Pope returned on furlough to West Point he was wearing nice linen pants with buttons on the front catching the eye of Major Delafield the superintendent at West Point. He eventually converted the new style on the cadet uniform’s trousers much to the dismay of his wife for reasons too “eye-popping” to include in this answer.

Main question: I found a source indicating that Richard Delafield was responsible for redesigning the trousers to include a button fly. He was a Civil War general, but in 1842 he was the West Point superintendent, not a cadet. However, he's the only answer I have, so I'll go with him.

Bonus: No idea.
