rouble, I’m In Trouble
(a song parody to “Dancing Cheek to Cheek)

Trouble, I’m in trouble.
In Kentucky, I’m surrounded, can’t retreat,
and I don’t know how to win can’t face defeat.
Is my time for fighting Rebels now complete?

Trouble, I’m in trouble
I’m so unsure and feeling rather weak,
and I’m asking Bragg for numbers, things look bleak,
Need advice so it’s the enemy I seek.

I go to visit Buckner,
He’s been through this before
he knows when one is down and out,
he’ll show me what’s in store

Although I came with blindfold,
I see his many men,
it’s time to take my losses,
and live to fight again.

Trouble, I’m in trouble,
A prison cell is now from where I speak,
but I’ll serve again, I’ll be out in 8 weeks,
I’ll be fighting fast as lightning and at peak.

1. Who’s In Trouble??
2. Within a year, he would gain recognition for his actions in another battle and his brigade would be known by 2 nicknames. What were they?

2) Lightning Brigade or Hatchet Brigade

"He mounted his brigade on horses and mules that his men appropriated from the local area and moved into the battle with such rapidity that his men soon became known as the "Lightning Brigade",
They were also known as the "Hatchet Brigade" because Wilder issued them long-handled hatchets to carry instead of cavalry sabers"

Colonel John T. Wilder (1830-1917. This incident occurred during the Battle of Munfordville (aka Battle of Green River Bridge), September 14-17, 1862).
Wilder's
command of mobile mounted infantry, the First Brigade, Fourth Division, Fourteenth Corps, Army of the Cumberland, was known as the "Lightning Brigade" and, because Wilder issued them long-handled hatchets instead of sabers, the "Hatchet Brigade".

You Are: Colonel John T. Wilder
Nicknames: During the June 1863 Tullahoma campaign Wilder’s men succeeded in driving Confederates from Hoover’s Gap, winning a key victory for Maj. Gen. William S. Rosecrans, and earning themselves the moniker “Wilder’s Lightning Brigade.” They were also known as the "Hatchet Brigade" because Wilder issued them long handled hatchets to carry instead of cavalry sabers. He was brevetted to brigadier general in August of 1864, although due to health concerns he would resign in October.
