In early 1864, one Confederate regiment and then another claimed to be the first to re-enlist "for the war." Not to be outdone, on February 17, 1864, all four regiments of one brigade re-enlisted "for forty years or the war," initiating a wave of re-enlistments in excess of the traditional term. Which brigade was it and what regiments made up the brigade? [Hint: Find the answer via CWT search.]

2) The 13th, 17th, 18th, and 21st Mississippi Infantry Regiments formed what is known as Griffith’s / Barksdale’s / Humphreys’ Mississippi Brigade.
