June 30, 1865 - Andrew Johnson names Benjamin F. Perry provisional governor of South Carolina.
June 30, 1865 - Skirmish with Indians at Rock Creek, the Dakota Territory, where the Indians are reported to have ran off 60 head of cattle from Rock Creek and killing one soldier. Also at Willow Springs Station they have stolen all the stock belonging to the stage coach company.
June 30, 1865 - Maj. Gen. Henry W. Halleck, US, relinquishes his command of the Military Division of the James, VA.
June 30, 1865 - The US Military Tribunal finds all of the following guilty of conspiring to murder President Abraham Lincoln with the following sentences doled out:
Samuel Arnold - life imprisonment
George Atzerodt - death by hanging
David Herold - death by hanging
Dr. Samuel Mudd - life imprisonment
Michael O'Laughlin - life imprisonment
Lewis Payne - death by hanging
Edward Spangler - 6 yrs. imprisonment
Mrs. Mary Surratt - death by hanging
