June 18, 1812 - Congress (79-49 in the House, 19-13 in the Senate) declares war on the empire of Great Britain.

June 18, 1860 - June 23, 1860 - The Democrats reconvene in Baltimore to select a nominee, but Douglas can't make the necessary 2/3 majority until the anti-Douglas delegates leave on June 22 and the floor rules are changed to require 2/3 vote of the members present. On June 23rd the Convention nominates Stephen Douglas and Herschel V. Johnson.

June 18, 1861 - Skirmish at Edward's Ferry, MD, with Brig. Gen. Charles P. Stone, USA.

June 18, 1861 - Skirmish at Camp Cole, MO, with Pro-Union Home Guards.

June 18, 1862 - Skirmish at Wilson's Gap, KY, and TN, and the occupation of Cumberland Gap by Brig. Gen. George W. Morgan, USA.
