Today marks the 157th Anniversary of when Arlington House became a military cemetery. This cemetery would become known as Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Virginia. Not only would civil war Soldiers be buried in this cemetery but all future wars would have soldiers buried in the cemetery and still does today.

I believe it was during this engagement Brigadier General Lucius Polk (nephew of the then recently killed Leonidas Polk) lost his leg to an artillery shell, and was out of action for the rest of the war. He would return to his home in Columbia, where he'd meet his divisiion commander one last time before the Battle of Franklin, helping to have the General buried in honor.
