February 26, 1861 - Camp Colorado, TX, is abandoned by the Union forces, led by Capt. E. Kirby Smith, 2nd US Cavalry.

February 26, 1862 - Ambrose Powell Hill, CSA, is appointed Brig. Gen.

February 26, 1862 - James Johnston Pettigrew, CSA, is appointed Brig. Gen.

February 26, 1863 - The National Currency Act was signed into law by President Lincoln, creating a national banking system, a Currency Bureau and the office of Comptroller of the Currency. The act's goal was to establish a single currency.
