Image Comics is turning the clocks back 160+ years to the American Civil War in its latest series: Two Moons (launching next month).

Deftly blending history with horror, the project — which hails from writer John Arcudi (The Thing from Another World: Climate of Fear) and artist Valerio Giangiordano (Jessica Jones: Blind Spot) — is centered around Virgil Morris, aka “Two Moons,” a young member of the Pawnee Nation fighting on the side of the Union.

The absolute carnage of the conflict against the Confederacy is all around him, but that bloodshed soon takes a backseat when Virgil “is suddenly confronted with his shamanic roots,” teases the official synopsis. As a result, he’ll discover...
