Any information would be appreciated. I also included a picture of the stamp which is on the back of the photo.

Welcome From THE Heart Of Dixie. Be sure to stop by the Weapons & Ammo and the Uniforms & Relics forums. Here is a GREAT new website that may help Id your guy.

Thanks guys. Would love to know anything anybody can tell me by his uniform and what not. Is he Union or Confederate? Can anybody tell me what rank he is? I know very little about the Civil War but am very interested in learning.

Union Infantry private. He's wearing a shell/roundabout style jacket. Civilian style slouch hat. Wearing an enlisted waistbelt with US oval buckle. Cartridge box sling with eagle breast plate. The thin belt and pistol holster are probably studio props. The rifle is a touch blurry but I believe he's holding a P53 Enfield Rifle Musket. I'm leaning Upper Mid West regiment maybe. Looks similar to some of the photos @major bill bill posts .

Hello and welcome to the forum. The roundabout jacket does resemble to types issued by Michigan early in the War. However, several Northern states also issued roundabout and most are fairly similar.

Hello and welcome to the talk forum from Southeast Missouri located on the banks of the muddy Mississippi River. That is a great image. I would say he is a westerner, from what state I cannot say.

Either his right hand is bandaged or he's let his shirt sleeve fall down. Great image.

If you can find an image with a similar backdrop, you might have a chance identifying the photographer.

Great insights. I will definitely browse around and see if I can find similar backdrops.
