I think Andy Hall and others had posted up sites to search old newspapers. I thought I had saved the sites but have lost it.

I'm inteterested in finding out whether or not I might could access St. Louis Missouri Republican, 5 Dec. 1884. Would such be accessible on those sites you guys and gals use? If so, could someone repost those sites. Thanks so much!

Google News Archive - The search feature doesn't work well on this, and I believe older papers aren't even included. Some great finds sitting out there if you know where to look.

Subscription sites
Newspapers.com - I think it has the most reliable search engine of the subscription sites, plus is easiest to browse so I always check here first. Also, a helpful feature is that pages show up in google searches.

It's also well worth the time to google historic newspapers plus the town and state you're looking in/around. I did that this week and up popped a digitized newspaper at the town's public library.

Archive.org also has some newspapers that have been uploaded onto the site. Not much in the way of a reliable search feature, but if you know the paper and the published date you can view the entire paper.

Thanks! I posted this thread up about 2 years ago, so I can't remember exactly, but it probably had something to do with Missouri troops at Champion Hill or Big Black River.

Thanks for all the responses!
