By James M. Folsom. While the war was still raging in 1864, Folsom set out in an attempt to record the history of Georgia's troops. This book is comprised of eighteen detailed histories of infantry, cavalry, and artillery units authored by the very officers that commanded or served in them, in many cases literally written while in the trenches at Petersburg. Folsom originally intended to author multiple volumes, however only one was ever completed. Macon: Burke, Boykin & Co., 1864.
