...this past week, working on "Lincoln" with James McPherson.

Possible Stephen King spotted there today - hmm........

That's definitely an 'A' list group, hope they make it out before the storm.

LOVE Daniel Day-Lewis - one of the finest actors today.

Couldn't agree with you more. I think he's probably my favorite actor out there right now, although I'll be honest...he has been since Last of the Mohicans

Has anyone read "Team of Rivals" yet? I picked it up in a used book store some months back but haven't had a chance to start it. I looks like a good read and they're making this movie on it, so it must be all right.

I might have to subscribe to HBO for a while, just to see it. Normally, we spend way to much time watching useless movies, but "To Appomattox" sounds too good to forego. Next, I will have to sell the idea to the Missus.

There has been no official announcement as to which network will be airing "To Appomatox." However, it should be announced very soon.

Yes, I was extremely entertained thru-out, one of those books I did not want to put down (and I'm not into politics at all). While I was reading it I was thinking that it would make a wonderful movie, so I am glad to hear that it is supposed to be made into one. I will definitely have to re-read it right before the movie comes out. (Sorry about the near-month delay in reply--must have missed this post back then).

Lincoln, like him or hate him, managed to bring together a govenment that could wage war. That's not something that any ordinary guy does.

I just ran across this article where Spielberg gives out a little information on the movie.

Spielberg Gives A Brief "Lincoln" Update

With "Tintin" and "War Horse" almost upon us, Steven Spielberg is turning his attention towards his next project "Lincoln" and he revealed a couple of new details in an interview with The Orlando Sentinel (via The Film Stage).
As we already know, this Abraham Lincoln biopic will utilise much of Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book "Team of Rivals". Spielberg adds that "we’re only focusing in on the last four months of Abraham Lincoln’s life" and about the great work he did in those early months of 1865 before his assassination in mid-April.

Though set during the closing days of the American Civil War, Spielberg says this is "not a battlefield movie" but there will be battles in it. Also, to avoid becoming a political football, the movie "will be purposely coming out after next year’s election".

Other things likely to be covered in the narrative include Lincoln’s landslide re-election, his second inaugural address, and the passing of the thirteenth amendment.
Finally, Spielberg says he's definitely producing the Brett Ratner kids adventure flick “The 39 Clues" which should finally begin filming next year.

Always like watching this movie whenever shown. Lewis, Field and Jones are very good in portraying the characters.
