Reenactors how was your season

As a reenactor I just finished my season and my unit didn’t have much Civil War this year. What we did have was sparse and we actually did a lot more Rev War this year. What we did do was great. This was my first full season of this and we were out about every other weekend. So how was your season, do you only do Civil War or like us do you switch eras to pad your year out.

Had a pretty good year but had to do a lot of traveling to do it. Just Civil War stuff doing both Union and Confederate and both mainstream and campaigner events. Starting in Florida last winter to an event in Massachusetts last weekend and many points in between. We have Cedar Creek coming up next weekend. I usually average about 12 events a year, the Creek will be 12 since the 1st of the year. If I can pick up another event or two I'll be above average.

What unit are you? I hope to attend Cedar Creek and will look you up if I can make it. I am a spectator, however, I have been attending Cedar Creek as a spectator since 1993. I did participate once, with Cooper's Battery B, in 2006. That was a fantastic experience. I have ancestors that fought on both sides at that battle and I truly thank all of you for helping us remember all who fought there! I was just at Belle Grove and touring the battlefield on September 11th. If I can make it, it will probably be only for Sunday's event...

I'll be with 12th Georgia Co F

Okay, thank you. I hope to attend, so I will try to find your camp. If I don't get a chance to meet you I just want to say, thanks, I truly appreciate all the hard work living historians are doing!
Thanks, we all love doing it. If you make it look for the guys just laid out on the ground. We usually don't put up any canvas as long as the weather is fair and then shelter halves if it looks like rain. Hope you can make it.

Cool I was on the Union cannon crew the gun on the right hand side although both gun are from our unit
My other half was there taking pictures and she loves the cannons so I'm sure she has some pics of you guys. I haven't had a chance to look through them yet. If there's some good ones I'll post them for you.

My personal year starts next weekend with Cedar Creek . My son and I will be there . Our next event is remembrance day . Our unit , 12th NJVI Co . K has done a fair amount this year . Some small events , living histories , parades , etc. Not bad I guess . Looking forward to next year already .
Me too I’m hoping to kind of expand my horizons next year and meet more people to hang out with

Sweet did you guys get your share of the cow flops the gun and my uniform were covered the cleaner is still probably wondering what the smell is
Ha, there was plenty to go around for sure. I somehow stayed out of it other than my shoes but some of my comrades didn't fare as well. Then again it may be an improvement for us Dirty Rebs

You're always welcome to come hang with us Rebs, we have a lot of fun over in our camp. I saw on another post you were wanting to try some infantry. If you're looking Union go introduce yourself to the 2nd Rhode Island guys or 15th Mass, nice groups of guys. Some of them come fall in with us sometimes and vice versa.

Check out Stone's River in Lebanon the weekend of the 23rd. There's a FB page...

Not too bad of a year...considering all the cancellations. Olustee canx'd, but did Broxton Bridge. Nice small event. Did Resaca as Federal this year...pretty good. About to head to Lebanon Tennessee in the next week or so for Stone's River. New Division, Army of the Deep South. They need bodies. There's a FB page.
