My wife and I are visiting Gettysburg this week and as I was checking Google Maps for parking locations it seems neither the Rose Farm nor the area of Brooke Ave behind it offer much if any parking. Where is the best place to find parking to walk the area?

You can pull up to Rose farm and park along the road way. You can also park on Brooke Avenue. If you want to get into the "split rock" field, I can give you more details.

So you are talking about actually parking on the Rose farm lane leading to the house? Brooke Avenue looks pretty tight unless it is just one way.

This is correct. You CAN drive back to the Rose Farm via the lane off Emmitsburg Pike. There is some gravel parking next to the ruins of the barn. From there, you can walk past the house into the pasture/meadow where split rock is, and sometimes horses. If you want to, say, walk the electric trolley path through the Rose Woods or visit the Fuller marker in the Rose Woods, you can pull off and park on the right before you get to the first bridge (there’s not a formal parking area, but everyone parks in the dirt/mud area there). I usually do them separately (because I’m lazy 😁) but you could technically park one place and go to the other, as well.

Yes..the lane leading to the house. See pam's post above. Brooke Ave is one way and I have never had any trouble parking by the monuments there.

Yes, it’s perfectly okay to drive back on the Rose Farm lane, and park in the gravel lot between the barn ruins and the house. Parking on Brooke Avenue is doable With little problem. Technically, park rules are that you shouldn’t park on the grass, but you’ll see spots on Brooke that have been obvious pull-offs for years.

Thank yall so much for your help! We just finished our first day on the battlefield and it was amazing to say the least. We covered the first days engagement in 14 separate stops. We have 16 to do tomorrow!
