So I was perusing Craigslist and saw an add for CW books for sale. I called the number and learned it was an elderly gentleman looking for a good home for his books. He was only asking a very minimal amount and said he had a "few". When I arrived at his house, the gentleman escorted me to the 2nd floor where the books were located. The "few" turned out to be over 200!! It took me an hour to load them, because I had no boxes or bags and was up and down the stairs. I haven't looked at most of them, but there is books on generals, battles, diaries, battle maps, CW games, pamphlets cassette tapes, playing cards and other stuff. They are still in my car as I need to make room for them.

Thank you for making me feel so much better about my recent book buying spree! I thought I was buying too much....
Lol. I wasn't expecting 200 books. It's honestly way more than I thought he was selling... I really don't have the space in my CW room and my house is for sale... so now I have 200 extra books that I'll have to move soon. But for the price... I couldn't pass it up.

So you "won the lottery" as we Civil War fans say!
Definitely a good find for sure! And I think he was happy they were going to a good home. He said his children and grandchildren were going to throw them out. I told him I would not throw any out, and if there was a book I would not be interested in... I would give it to a fellow CW fan. He smiled.

There is actually something bittersweet about this… libraries up my way are also shedding old classic history books by the bushel…
Glad you got to these when you did.
May all the books end up in good homes!
Me too. I'm glad I was able to put a smile on his face... rather than his kids throwing them in the recycle bin
