The rest of the Instructor course series is being planned for late November. To be a certified NRA Muzzleloading Instructor, you must take the Basic Course, Basic Instructor Training and Muzzleloading Instructor courses.

Guys, I can't stress this enough, youth shooting sports programs are suffering from a lack of certified people to run those programs. As the programs languish in obscurity, muzzle loading is going with it. Want to revitalize interest in shooting muskets? Get involved

Are there similar organizations and courses in other states?
It would be neat to have a list of contacts, such as web links or phone numbers.

I'm hoping if that list does come out there will be an opening down here in Texas. I do shoot blackpowder but am not certified. I agree, lets get the youth involved.

Contact the NMLRA Education dept. We're part of the NMLRA as a Charter Club but we're an odd duck in that we're dedicated strictly to education and instruction. If this model pans out, I'm hoping it will be replicated.

I wouldnt mind taking the qualification courses. Im not sure if I can take the rigors of teaching a class— especially in our hot weather.
The course work isn't that hard for the most part. The most challenging part is the Basic Instructor Training which is a course on how to teach and teaching methods. If you know muzzleloading already, the rest is pretty much a walk over if you can shoot fairly well as there is a qualification to it.

Teaching a class- well we're doing this Basic class because it's the first part of the only path to becoming certified. Once certified, get active with a local youth organization with a shooting sports program that needs certified instructors. Example, Scouting, Trail Life, Royal Rangers, all use only NRA Certified Instructors.

Well, My feet have some limitations. When Im doing something fun, it seems I have no problem— but suffer the next day.
I will get new inserts for my shoe next week.
