Hello all, new member here! I had posted this in the main forum but it was suggested I throw this one in here. I recently acquired this martially marked 1860 Army and I was curious on the off chance that there was any information out there on where/when or if she saw any service? Based on the s/n 88848 it looks like early 1863 production. I know it’s a long shot but if anyone had any info or where I might be able to do further research, it would be much appreciated!

I have not done the research in years but you can order a nice document from Colt showing date of manufacture and where it was shipped to. I did it many years ago when the cost was like $25-50. Sadly some Jerk there upped the price over $300-350 which could be 1/3 of the value of the gun. I never ordered another one. There are others here that can help you with further research.

Nice M1860 Army. No record for who it might have been issued to. The barrel wedge is in backwards. The heavy block should be on the left side of the barrel lug. Great looking grip cartouches.

Thank you sir. Apparently the wedge spring has been missing for a very long time and the person I bought it from mentioned the wedge had been in backwards when he received it, so he left it that way as it made things quite loose if it’s installed correctly. The wedge is numbered to the gun, I may try to track down an original spring if that is even possible these days.
