Davis Did Jefferson and Varina Davis ever visit New Jersey prior to the war?

Varina Davis's father was the son of the former Governor of New Jersey, does anyone have any record of those two spending time in New Jersey prior to the war?

I know that this does not answer your inquiry but may I recommend the book "Varina'' by Charles Frazier. Before you read the book you may want to read the interview with the author at the end of the book. His brother is a rather interesting person as to his method as to how he operated his plantation and slaves. Varina did support slavery but was not in favor of the war. May I recommend that research as I did after reading the novel, into her ,the black man whom she meets in New York, and Jefferson's brother. Her daughter became active in the Daughters of the Confederacy . May I suggest a bio "First Lady of the Confederacy-Varina Davis's Civil War''. by Joan E. Cashin.

Thanks for the book recommendations.

When they lived in Washington DC when Davis was member of Congress, and Senator, they visited New Jersey so she could visit family. She liked when they lived there. She was friends with many prominent people and liked to entertain and see her family.
Thank you so much donna.
