Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you ...
Private Pleasent Riggs Crump of Company "A" 10th Alabama Infantry Regiment.
He was present for the surrender at Appomattox Court House, Virginia on the 9th of April 1865.
He died December 31st 1951 aged 104.

He was the last verifiable Confederate veteran.
I recently had a discussion with a gentleman on Facebook who as a eight year old boy in 1948 was taken by his parents to Montgomery, Alabama for the state fair.
While there he met, spoke with and shook the hand of a older man in a wheelchair.
That old man was Pleasant Riggs Crump.
