He was the last verifiable Confederate veteran.

I recently had a discussion with a gentleman on Facebook who as a eight year old boy in 1948 was taken by his parents to Montgomery, Alabama for the state fair.

While there he met, spoke with and shook the hand of a older man in a wheelchair.

That old man was Pleasant Riggs Crump.

(I colorizied his photo.)

On March 12, 2022, The Southern Sons Of Liberty Inc. & The Fighting Joe Wheeler Camp #1372 SCV Camp will be jointly finishing a long-delayed project to restore the grave photo at the gravesite of Pleasants Riggs Crump in Lincoln, Alabama.

Pleasant Riggs Crump was the last verifiable Living Confederate veteran, he was part of the historically significant "Last Reunion" organized by the late, Dr. Ira West. (the resurrector of the Alabama Division SCV in the 1950s-1960s).
This last reunion was between James W. Moore (Last CIC, United Confederate Veterans) and Pleasant R. Crump.

Present at this gravestone restoration will be the "Last Reunion Flag" from Dr. West's collection and some photos of the two veterans saluting it.

Come one, come all and see this historically significant event in which the very flag Crump last saluted will be present at his graveside!
