Unknown Confedetate Soldier Identified?

Alexander M. Irby

Residence was not listed; a 19 year-old Farmer.

Enlisted on 9/30/1861 at Catawba, VA as a Private.

On 9/30/1861 he mustered into "K" Co. VA 26th Infantry
He died on 5/5/1862 at Gloucester County, VA Hospl

In Gloucester Virginia there's a church named Abingdon.
Two unknown Confedetate soldiers are buried there who died at Burgh Westra, a local home owned by Dr. Philip Taliaferro which was used as a hospital.

Could Alexander Irby be one of those two men?

He has a discharge certificate, but it includes no additional information on the location of the hospital.... "died 5th May 1862 at Hospital in Gloucester County Va."

On November 21, 1862, his father, Samuel J. Irby, filed a claim for pay due to him:

Halifax County to wit
This is to certify that Alexander M Irby Private in Capt A W Poindexters Company K, of the 26th Regt of Va Vols, My son, that he died the 5th day of May 1862 unmarried and without issue -- and without a will so far as I know or believe, that he was between nineteen & twenty years of age Given under my hand this the 21st day of Nov 1862.
