Just an update on my artillery figures I spoke of last month. First, a bit of background is needed. I am inpatient at the VA in Ann Arbor once a month through July. Containment Chemotherapy they call it. I am here now for my May treatment. I should be home Tuesday...
Well, last month when I began planning what was to be a small artillery diorama. But then, I thought, "Hey, this would be a great time to do a scene from the Atlanta Cyclorama...so now I have 3 guns and caissons built. About 70 CSA troops, with more on the war. Perry resin and Foundry

metal figures. Special flags ordered for the Orphan Brigade and the 9th KY (my old reenacting unit). Now I began the Union infantry. Rail tracks, Georgia pines, a building, and I have had a plexiglass covered table to function as my coffee table being built by a buddy of mine who is a carpenter! So, the moral of the story is, don't plan dioramas from a hospital room! My little vignette has become the biggest monster I have ever attempted!!! But it is so fun...just too much fun!
Here are some WIP photos, My first ever ACW cannons. Already, I have modified some aspects but here is an idea of what happened! GARRYOWEN! Leigh

This is a niggling complaint, and I like your painting; however, the RIVETS on the strapping of the limbers stand out like proverbial sore thumbs and are not correct. Better to have filed them off altogether, as the screw heads they represent were actually flush.

GREAT INFO! Thank you Sir! I just checked images on Google and you are, of course, totally correct. It appears they are below the stripping and painted black, hence almost invisible. I will rectify this as soon as I get home this week! Again, James, I thank you for your expert eye in this matter. Leigh

The painting is great . The figures look like they are 1/32nd instead of 1/ 56th. I like the colors of the carriages and caissons . It's a good scale effect green . Really looking forward to this project of yours . You definitely have the required talent .

Any compliments I get from you guys are highly inspiring, Kurt. Thank you. I love the level of knowledge here! This forum is the best.

Really nice painting.I to paint miniatures. You may want to research the muzzles on the guns. Confederate produced napoleons didn’t have the swell at the muzzle. Just my two cents.
I game ACW in 15mm and 28mm as well as reenact ACW.

Though not common , there are a few surviving Confederate produced Napoleons with the muzzle swell . I'm not sure how many Union Napoleons may have been captured .

I really wish we could get some minature gaming in. I am building up a big collection! I have reenacted in the past and, Lord willing, I will again next year!

Our Governor is lifting restrictions, so hopefully reenctements can happen. Son and I are fully vaccinated, and I hope and pray that our fellow reenactors get the poke asap! I miss ya’ll!
