Just an update on my artillery figures I spoke of last month. First, a bit of background is needed. I am inpatient at the VA in Ann Arbor once a month through July. Containment Chemotherapy they call it. I am here now for my May treatment. I should be home Tuesday...
Well, last month when I began planning what was to be a small artillery diorama. But then, I thought, "Hey, this would be a great time to do a scene from the Atlanta Cyclorama...so now I have 3 guns and caissons built. About 70 CSA troops, with more on the war. Perry resin and Foundry
metal figures. Special flags ordered for the Orphan Brigade and the 9th KY (my old reenacting unit). Now I began the Union infantry. Rail tracks, Georgia pines, a building, and I have had a plexiglass covered table to function as my coffee table being built by a buddy of mine who is a carpenter! So, the moral of the story is, don't plan dioramas from a hospital room! My little vignette has become the biggest monster I have ever attempted!!! But it is so fun...just too much fun!
Here are some WIP photos, My first ever ACW cannons. Already, I have modified some aspects but here is an idea of what happened! GARRYOWEN! Leigh
