Let's not forget, for those of us planning to fly, that as of Oct 1st, 2021, you have to have the "Real I.D" type drivers license, or a passport. If you don't have it - it is a good idea to start getting the paperwork together as it can take several weeks for it to all go through. That's what I understand anyway, I haven't even got mine yet.

In Mississippi you go to the local driver license station and have a new license made that has a gold star on it. In and out in 15 minutes.
Regards
David
I made an appointment with the local DMV, took in the required documents and was also out in about 30 minutes. I could have been out sooner, but I was busy watching two recent British arrivals trying to get processed by a person who only spoke Southernese to people who only spoke proper King's English. Fortunately interpreters were available. You could also get veteran printed on your S.T.A.R. Driver's License if you had your DD214.

There's a youtube video I think where a British tourist claims they were asked why don't you speak English :bounce:

Since I'm on the "NO FLY" list I don't have to worry about it.:banghead: I just drive.
I can only imagine the circumstances that led to your being on that list.....

As for me I had to get my License renewed about the time this started. Didn't even know I had the new thing for the longest. Flying to a destination takes away from a trip for me. Its not so much the destination as is the journey that makes a trip.

🇬🇧🇬🇧 ...As the Queen would say "No comment" ...🇬🇧🇬🇧

We usually find that when people say " love your accent" they haven't a clue what we're talking about. :bounce:

It's somewhat like being Southernese and trying to work on a 62 year old piece of superb British automobile technology using only British Shop Manuals...spanners, wings, boot ...??? :help:

I honestly don't know why so many folks can't understand an English, Scottish, or Aussie accent, It ain't that hard. But then again I like to binge watch British war shows, and after two hours of hearing nothing but that dialect I can speak with an English accent till I'm re-exposed to Southernese.

The car manuals I can see though. I know the old tractor ones are a headscratcher.

I had to go back and watch reruns of the British car show Wheeler Dealers to get my interpretations.

Since we are the largest English speaking country in the world........shouldn't it be called American? :bounce:

Naw lets keep it English. After all, the "Sun never sets on the British Empire" which even with the Empire gone still holds true. British islands and the Queen of England still being the Queen of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand shows they still span the globe. They had it first....

The new world is still oppressed by the old world, we need to correct English and Spanish to American and Mexican :bounce:

Germany still the largest German speaking country, so they can keep it

We HAVE a weekend! It will be Antietam and it will be the weekend of October 8th, 9th, and 10th, 2021 (Columbus Day Weekend).

We also have, it was just firmed up today, Stephen Recker, whom you may remember from our CivilWarTalk Presents last Fall being our guide!

“Stephen Recker is a collector of rare Antietam photographs and relics. Items from his collection can be seen on battlefield waysides, in the newly renovated museum at Antietam National Battlefield, as well as in his book Rare Images of Antietam, and the Photographers Who Took Them. Recker is a member of Antietam Battlefield Guides, a service he founded in partnership with Western Maryland Interpretive Association, the non-profit at Antietam National Battlefield.”

I will post all the hotel information in a few days.
Thanks for that. I had a first ever trip to Antietam scheduled in June last year that got postponed until June this year and I'm guessing it will get cancelled again. October 6-12 is circled and blocked off on my calendar. Started reading Landscape Turned Red last month. I haven't been to an Eastern Theater battlefield since January 2016. Kinda hard to wrap my brain around that.
