Finally got good weather to test fire the CW Field Gun that I finished restoring. My sidekick and Good Friend in all this @redbob and his wife Nurse Mary and a few friends got together this past Sunday and test fired the cannon. It went off without a hitch (almost) but Nobody died. It fired kinda as it should and a Great Time was had by all.

Get you a uniform and tent and you can drag @redbob to reenactments to fire it.

Good job resurrecting that wreck into a fun toy!
Not going to happen. I did that for 2 years in the late 70's but only to get access to the parks. Everyone ask what's in the duffel bag? :whistling:

And just like that I'm having flashbacks of people clearing out from camp to hunt the private property that is the Pleasant Hill battlefield during reenactment. I'm pretty sure it still happens after all these years, event though its been combed over pretty good over the past 5 decades.

You do have a record of being caught after all. But hey, pro-tip, your digging a fire pit and you accidentally found it. I've known that one to work with a lot of people. But I can say with honesty I'm innocent.

"It went off without a hitch (almost) but Nobody died."

Sound like what Mr. H.J. Hunt would have said about these guns in 1862. 😎

Congratulations on a job well done my friend, you've got to love it when a plan comes together. A good time was had by all and now, on to your next project.
Yes your next project! That is yes question? Only time will tell. Congratulations my friend on a great journey of restoration of an old cannon to the finished product..fire the cannon!!

Are we talking about the same story? I'm remembering one related to a truck bed and a list.
The truck bed was the old guy that would take us in the park and pick us up in the morning. The list was a BOLO (be on Lookout)
