24th Georgia Militia regiment

I couldn't find anything specific to the 24th Militia, but maybe this would help.

Joe Brown's Pets: The Georgia Militia, 1861-1865

Description

Using original documents found in the Georgia Department of Archives and History, two Civil War historians have written not only the first history of the Georgia Militia during the Civil War, but have produced the definitive history of this militia.

I found this on Amazon, they are asking $42.61 for the hardcover.

Reorganizing the Georgia Militia in December of 1863, I looked online while concentrating on Cobb County. Tell me if I'm wrong with this area. A militia list emerged from all counties known in Georgia during the year of 1864. Below is a screen shot of Cobb County militia enrollment for 1864 courtesy of Georgia, Office of the Adjutant General, Georgia Library of Digital Files and Georgia State Archives.

If this information is not relevant and I'm barking up the wrong tree, please let me know. It seems I have a small file on the 24th GA militia but I don't have a clue what all is in it. The file dates over 22 years ago. Memory tells me a partial listing of men's names, a battle story or two and may-be a few odds-n-ends. The file is stored and my curiosity will probably make me drag it out and see for myself.

I don't think there was a 24th Georgia Militia Regiment - never heard of it.

There may have been some early war unit known as the '24th militia' but that's just a guess.
