I came across this article out of Gainesville, GA (dated 7/10/20). The author indicates that based on Longstreet's political views, his statue and legacy may remain intact. While other Confederate monuments/statues are being torn down and vandalized.
“Longstreet, in the late 19th century, was by far the most politically incorrect Confederate general in Dixie,” Young said. “But now, he’s the most politically correct. How ironic.”
