For those of us who can't quite afford nice firearm collections or other collectibles, show us your trinkets. Here is a picture of mine.

Capt. William McClure of the 71st Ohio was my step grandfather's uncle. Grandpa kept a portrait of him taken during the war, shortly after he was promoted to captain hanging on the wall in the living room.
After the war William became an engineer on a railroad and gifted his pocket watch to Grandpa upon his retirement from the railroad.
Both of these items are in my humble collection of family heirlooms.

I also have my Grandfather's pocket watch. It's a Hamilton.

I dug it on the Fredericksburg battlefield but I guess anything is possible.

In the years following the Civil War when veterans returned to the battlefields where they had fought, local merchants often had souvenirs for them to purchase. Two of the more interesting examples to me were these two bricks, #1 was made from the soil of Malvern Hill and #2 was made from the soil of Gettysburg and manufactured at the Gettysburg Brick Works which saw heavy fighting on July 1st.
