This weekend an auction was held to sell off the assets of the MOLLUS museum which included over 600 items to include guns, sword, artillery shells and all kinds of good stuff. Ive been collecting for a long time and I have never seen CW items go as high as these. I just sat there with my jaw on the floor. Here are a few examples. These items sold for 3 to 5 times what the current markets is. Plus add 15%
12lb solid shot from Gburg $5000, A very small Gburg war log $8000, a 3 inch Read no ID with no fuse or sabot $2000. A fired Hotchkiss no ID, with fuse $900 a complete one went for $1700. US 10lb parrott shell NO ID $2300, a "purported" Gburg Enfield $6700, 24lb stand of grape $2400 and the fake CS Schenkl $750 and one of the pieces I had my eye on a 1 foot section of a cannon barrel $5700.

In 1886, several Companions of MOLLUS (Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States) began the formation of a Civil War Library and Museum to serve as a repository for their records, relics, memorabilia, souvenirs, artifacts, and awards. A charter and Certificate of Incorporation were granted on May 2, 1888 for the War Library and Museum of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. Companion Rutherford B. Hayes, 19th President of the United States, was its first President. The collection was kept in various locations in Philadelphia until a house was purchased at 1805 Pine Street in 1922 to house the collection and to serve as the MOLLUS Headquarters. The Museum closed in 2008. The collection is the result of over a century of acquisition and conservation of a full range of artifacts, documentary material, books, and memorabilia of the Civil War.

Did you notice if only a few bidders seemed to buying most of the items ( ie 1 or 2 people buying most items) or do you think it was spread around and just a bidding frenzy?
With PA being in lockdown most folks were on line and there over 400 bidders and it was like blood on the water. Its was all over the place with bidders.

Sometimes, you just can't explain craziness.
I would not call it crazy but a FOOL and his money. I really wanted that piece of cannon barrel for $29.99 plus S+H :D
