Did not knoow much about this man, aside from being the Colonel of the regiment before 18 year old James R. Hagood was promoted.
I need to get some books on the Chattanooga Campaign.

This biography states he was killed at Wauhatchie, Tennessee on October 28th 1863. Another source says it was Lookout Mountain in Tennessee on the 29th of October. Are Wauhatchie and Lookout Mountain connected?
Yes, and sunset rock on Lookout looks over the Wauhatchie area directly beneath. It is just west and south of Moccasin Bend.
Lubliner.

Didn't they open the cracker barrel line on October 16? This would be a direct assault in opening the line from Kelly's Ferry into Wauhatchie and across the Bend. It is all in the shadows of Lookout Mountain every morning the sun shines.

I answered assumign he meant the battle of Lookout Mountain of November 24th, when the feds took it from Walthall's Brigade.
Again, I need to get some books on this subject soon.

I figured the connection there as well, and realized the date was appropriate to the opening at Brown's Ferry crossing.
Lubliner.
