I found this beautiful gold ring and wanted to share my discovery with this group. You all may have more insight on this at it appears to be a ladies Late Georgian style gold ring (circa. 1800-1830).
I dug it up while using a metal detector at a plantation site in west central Mississippi.
I was struck by it's beautiful design.

Here's another view.
It appears to be a size 6.
At first I thought that this may have been used as a wedding band. But now I'm thinking it could just be a pleasure ring.
I'm thinking Georgian Period since my internet search has guided me in this direction. Of course, I may be totally off.
Any information you ladies could provide would be appreciated.
Thanks for letting me share this treasure.
My daughter has already laid claim to it...lol.

Google posey ring- I think that might give you some more information- if there’s writing inside.
There’s a possibility it might be pinchback as I think I see a tiny bit of coppery color.
Anything at all on the interior as in engraving?

I’m looking on my English Georgian sites I go to for research to see if I can find any specific info concerning the style of engraving.

So, I contacted the gal who runs Boylerpf Antique and Victorian Jewelry. She said it looks like a betrothal ring, and that the heavy carving was done by hand. At that period of time, they were not marking the gold content on jewellry. She says have it gold tested. And just so you know..it’s my size!
