The oldest joke at battlefield parks is about the visitor who asks why all the Civil War battlefields happened in National Parks. At Stones River, I use that joke to open a talk about who lived on & around the battlefield. Forrest's July 13, 1862 raid on Murfreesboro happened in my front yard. My ancient Rhea relations had the war come to them in all its grotesque horror. Every spring must have brought back memories straight from the inner circle of hell.

Every spring thunderstorm must have brought flashbacks

The Rhea family must have thought they were in hell that Sunday morning when the Battle of Shiloh was fought on their property and the front yard of their house!

That's a very valid point . The reason all the landmarks there are named after surnames is that Shiloh was a community with lots of small farms and orchards . The residents had to be terrified that their quiet little community became a war zone .

This picture was taken from Rhea Field looking South towards CBT #25, one of 2 CBT's surrounding this bloody field.

Here is a close up of the same CBT and we can determine that is 40' x 10'. Each of the 10" cannon balls are 3' apart.

The same fungus that caused soldier’s wounds to heal while giving off a luminescent gas also sent wisps of light dancing over the bodies & graves. There is a nightmare for you.

Mixed with the large amount of Mercury in their bodies from the diarrhea meds they were taking

Polk's Tennesse Battery fought here on the Western side of Rhea's Field on Sunday morning losing 5 of their 6 cannons. The battery is facing North towards Waterhouse's battery which @MS2623 posted a picture of at the top of this thread
