Are there things to see in Tennessee or Kentucky?

With so many events being canceled due to coronavirus, once things open back up I might want to do a three day trip to see things I have never seen. So leaving Michigan I could get to Tennessee or Kentucky in one day. See things the next day and drive home on the third day. If there was plenty to see I could say an extra day in either place. I have seen the Battle of Franklin twice recently so don't need to see that again.

I also like museums that have Civil War items. I do need to include a couple of stops my wife might like.

If you or your wife like country music at all, Lorretta Lynns at Hurricane Mills

I'm not a big country music person, yet still found it very enjoyable

There are many fans of General Forrest who like to follow his battles. There are many but they are not as large and as well known.

Johnsonville,
Parkers Crossroads
Fort Pillow
to name a few.

The only things that are remaining open are the outside portions of the parks themselves. Some, like Shiloh, are only keeping one bathroom open, alternating them. Chattanooga-Chickamauga, they are closing even a few parking lots.

At the moment, you aren't going to be able to go into any museums, gift shops or visitor centers. And supposedly Kentucky is keeping everything closed until April 30th at the earliest.

The only reason I know is that I've been checking if enough stuff remains open to justify flying out to Kentucky on the 24th and being there and Tennessee for 9 days as was my plan for the Shiloh Muster.

Like I was going to visit the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace, the Mary Todd Lincoln House and the Jeff Davis Birthplace in Kentucky. Also the Andrew Jackson Hermitage and the James K. Polk House in Tennessee besides the Civil War stuff and they are all closed until further notice.

I would wait to go until June or July. My hope is to find a site, say Fort Donelson, and see thing in that general area so i don't spend too much time driving. Kentucky and Tennessee are big states and trying to see things hundreds of miles apart would turn a couple days in to a week or more.
Mill Springs, Perryville and Richmond in Kentucky; just to mention three. Plus the Bourbon Trail and the Corvette Museum if you are so inclined.
These are some places I have never seen.

Franklin TN just south of Nashville. Fabulous work being done there to reclaim the battlefield.

Sadly I have been to Franklin twice in the last three years and while I am sure I did not see everything there I hope to go some place new.

I guess there's gotta be something neat to see in Kentucky. Eh, what do I know.

Columbus KY has a park and memorial to the chain and anchor across the Mississippi River.

Good place for a picnic lunch

Fort Donelson is a great battlefield that you can cover and study within one day or take longer.

There was a large fort at Columbus KY---across the river from the site of Battle of Belmont. Very impressive earthworks; I just wish I had a knowledgeable guide who could describe each area.

IF you are interested in General Forrest, I would say go to Memphis. But, alas, he is gone.

But there are other sites along the M&C RailRoad: Collierville, Lafayette Station(Rossville), Moscow, LaGrange, Grand Junction, Davis Bridge and then Corinth.

Looks like a nice place. I will have to negotiate with my wife to get to go there. I hope there is large number of antique stores in the area so negotiations with her are easier.
