this is a pic of my 1860 ColtNew member here. Just wondering if anyone might know what unit an 1860 Colt serial 7229 might have been issued to. It’s all matching numbers and shows wear on barrel muzzle from holster wear. Thanks if you can help
Post pictures? I love to look at all old 1860's.
Great Old War Horse. Its not listed in the SRS so the unit of issue is lost in time. Below is the range in the SRS.this is a pic of my 1860 ColtView attachment 345109
Its not listed in the SRS.Love the OP's pistol and holster!
Figured I would add some photos I took years ago of the one I have. The photos are kind of small because that was all digital cameras were capable of back when I took these. I would appreciate a serial number look-up as well while the books are out. 44046

Looks like it went to Captain RHK Whiteley, Governor's Island NY in either his order for 50 or 500 pieces. Further research may tell the unit issued.New member here. Does this mean it was his pistol or just one in the shipment to him?Looks like it went to Captain RHK Whiteley, Governor's Island NY in either his order for 50 or 500 pieces. Further research may tell the unit issued.
They were shipped to him.Does this mean it was his pistol or just one in the shipment to him?
It appears as if Governor's Island was a Supply Depot, Arsenal as well as a Fort and that many expeditions (Star Of West and Port Royal as examples) emanated from there.Does this mean it was his pistol or just one in the shipment to him?
