Another I have posted before . 5th NY at Gaines Mill by Time Machine Miniatures . This is an old set that I painted many years ago. 54mm oils and acrylics.
Nice job. A multi-figure diorama just magnifies the complexity of the task.

Q: What did you paint with oils? Just flesh? Or do you apply acrylics as a base coat and finish with oils? Please explain.

I have a hard time keeping my Model Master paints from drying out---even with the electric paint stirrer. I considered trying Oils but that takes so long to dry and I can't see how to do "dry brush" painting.
Hmm, I was sure that I had painted one of my figures with oils. Guess not.

This was over 15 years ago and I was using primarily oils . I used an acrylic undercoat over primer and oils for the figures . It takes too long for oils to dry . This can be an advantage for blending , but you also have to watch out for a gloss finish . Certain colors are especially bad . I always put my oils on an index card so some of the extra oil is absorbed . This helps to reduce the shine .
