I was killed during the first battle of the American Revolution. I died 84 years later, after an armed confrontation that I was involved in failed - an event that some say, led to the American Civil War.
What is the name we hold in common?

Governor Brig. General Henry Watkins Allen

Bonus: Brown - just a guess

Edit - Since the question did not specify that it was asking for first and last name, I will give credit for this answer. Note that there were three men named Brown who died after the armed confrontation at Harpers Ferry - John Brown and his sons Oliver Brown and Watson Brown.

Henry Watkins Allen.

First time I ever recall a search hit being a Facebook page. But I used the wiki page as the source. Kind of cool.

The common name has to be John Brown.

After the failed Harper's Ferry raid, John Brown was executed on Dec 2, 1859. 84 years after John Brown's revolutionary war death.

The regulars then charged forward with bayonets. Captain Parker's cousin Jonas was run through. Eight Lexington men were killed, and ten were wounded. The only British casualty was a soldier who was wounded in the thigh. The eight colonists killed were John Brown, Samuel Hadley, Caleb Harrington, Jonathon Harrington, Robert Munroe, Isaac Muzzey, Asahel Porter, and Jonas Parker. Jonathon Harrington, fatally wounded by a British musket ball, managed to crawl back to his home, and died on his own doorstep. One wounded man, Prince Estabrook, was a black slave who was serving in the militia.

I guess he is Henry Watkins Allen

Bonus:
The name they share is John Brown:
  • John Brown, just 23 years old, was among the first eight colonists killed in the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775.
  • And, of course, everyone knows about John Brown's Raid on Harpers Ferry in October 1859. He faced a jury just eight days after his capture, was found guilty five days later, and sentenced to hang two days after that. He was hanged on December 2, 1859.
