Congrats, and I'm positive you'll do a great job!
(I was rather hoping you'd apply and get it.)

Congratulations! I suppose, in keeping with naval custom, we should now call you "Captain" regardless of your substantive rank
Sirs, thank you for your kind words and warm welcome. Hosts are ask to make an introductory post so lets just use this one.
When I first joined CWT, (and I still consider myself a 'newbie'), I hung out on the Naval and Weapons forums. Pieces of metal that move or go BOOM or both. Just where I felt most comfortable, (there was no Choo-Choo forum at that time). Mark Jenkins and then Andy Hall were The Naval War hosts since I joined. Filling their roles is like being told that "Well, our last two closers were Goose Gossage and Mariano Rivera, it's your turn, what do you have?" Oh Boy - some huge shoes to fill. So...
Fellow Posters and 'Floaty-things' enthusiasts:
I would like to thank Mike and Ami for allowing me to serve as host of The Naval War Forum. This entire board has taught me so much about this time period that a simple 'Thanks' seems grossly inadequate.
I am not even close to the level of knowledge that quite a few regular posters have. Hopefully I can make up for that with some, (at times 'over-the-top'), passion and exuberance. I wish all to freely post here - not just about the naval stuff but any transportation and foreign involvement topics and questions that might come up. The Naval aspect was involved in all of that. I am looking forward to learning a great deal more and hope that others can find something of interest. And of course, I wish all to enjoy and have fun.
Sir, since I now host 2 sub-forums can I be called 'Commodore'? In 'Pirates of the Caribbean', Captain Jack Sparrow said you get a bigger hat...
Also, in case anyone is wondering, I took this position not because I know anything about naval affairs but the site owners offered to double my pay and benefits...I need the dental...
Thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity!
