Visiting General Jackson at VMI and his burial location. My son and I had a private tour by a retired Marine who is an administrator at VMI. So much to see, Little Sorrell burial area and in the “flesh”, Gen Jackson’s jacket that he was shot in (bullet hole still present), Gen. Patton’s GF portrait as he was KIA in Picketts Charge, the young Cadets killed at New Market, Jackson barracks

Lexington is well worth the stop and taking enough time to see the town is well worth it. While I found Lee's Chapel most interesting, the political climate at Washington & Lee has made it less attractive than it once was. VMI, it's museum and the Cemetery was what I enjoyed most. And the West Pointer that I was with was surprised to learn that Ole Blood and Guts Patton had gone there and we were fortunate enough to see the dress parade on Friday. A very enjoyable day indeed.
