I am aware of the 2nd South Carolina and also Unreconstructed String Band, but are there any others that play to that level that I should be taking note of? Also, I have been unable to find any such performers representing the Union side!
Any help would be appreciated.

Hands down these fellas...Great !!!

Well I certainly don’t play to the level of some of the above folks but I do play quite a bit of violin, in all honesty it’s most of my reenactment work. I joke I’m kinda like a civil war radio: the sound quality may not be the best but I sure can play quite a few tunes! I’m fresh off a performance at the Soldiers & Sailors Monument in Cleveland where I played for some 8 odd hours for people waiting for our yearly behind the scenes tunnel tours. If all goes well, I am hoping to also play at their 125th Anniversary in July. I learn most of my songs by ear, the 97th & Bobby Horton are often my sources. At some point I need to put up the rendition of “Bold Soldier Boy” in front of the Artillery group of statues up on YouTube. It’s the first time it’s been played in the square since the Cleveland Light Artillery returned home in 1861.

Are the local Rebs allowed to come? :giggle:

I suppose, the war was already over for 25 years so we’d drubbed the Rebs pretty throughly by then! If you have a chance you should talk to Shane at the Monument, he is both UCV & GAR... by virtue of having people on both sides of the conflict. Everything is a bit up in the air at the moment, such is the case with sites run by committee. The statehouse battery may be there as well, if all
goes to plan.

Thanks. Wondering because not sure if they would want the Rebs there for extra Civil War "ambiance/history" or if it's a total honor to the Union vets and we wouldn't be welcomed. Let me know if you find out anything too please!
