I like the one I got already!

So do I,but if my Civil War ancestors were Union troops I'd be just as proud and wanna show 'em off just as much. I'm hoping they'll be well-represented at our gathering this October. I couldn't find any good lanyards that were strictly Union Civil War-themed so I got the next best thing.

@gary, you asked in another thread about accommodations in Vicksburg. At the top of every page here you will find the answers and the tour itineraries, which are naturally evolving.

We really hope you can make it. You will be amazed at the new friends you'll make. Cheers.

I wanted to bump this to remind everyone of the upcoming event and to add I just received permission from the Travel Committee Director to extend my stay for the Vicksburg Conference/Invasion! I will be checking in Thursday, October 24th!!! Who sez begging doesn't work?

I am interested in this guided tour of Vicksburg. I would like to see some of Champion's Hill but I know that may take too much time for what there may be to see there.

It is still a little to early to know if I can attend. I wasn't sure if @Ole Miss was involved in the planning of the tour.

I need some kind of assurance that @Ole Miss will allow me to stop and pay my respects to General Lee.

Great, Looking forward to meeting you and you can stop and pay your respect to Gen Stephen D Lee. In fact if you wanted you could do a presentation on him at one of the stops.

Uh-oh! I went and opened my big mouth.
I'm always eager to talk about "my" General Lee. There is a lot to say about him so I'm sure I could come up with a 5-minute talk. But I will be handicapped without a PowerPoint projector. There is always the option of using a Handout.
We can discuss. First let me clear my calendar for those dates.

Just finished these 4 books ( the Shelby Foote book covers Vicksburg in Chapter 4, The Beleaguered City ). All great reads.
As there are only 174 days left before our get together, does anyone have any further recommendations.

The Guide to the Vicksburg Campaign (U.S. Army War College Guides to Civil War Battles Volume 6) covers the entire campaign and is used by the U.S. Army War College on Staff Rides to the Vicksburg Battlefields.

Many thanks, although not available in the U.K I've found a copy on Amazon.com at a reasonable price , so number 1 on my wish list.
