Went on a hunt in my back yard and found a bunch of things so far. Mostly pottery and cool stones which may be arrowheads, but below I was not able to identify as of yet. The top item seems to be a broken horseshoe, but please let me know your thoughts on all 3 pieces. My area had several civil war battles close by, as well as a heavy Cherokee Indian presence. All pieces are are a heavy metal, assumed to be iron.

Mule shoes and what looks like part of a file. Keep Digging

Thank you. Also, I have some other pieces such as pottery and such. If I post here, could take a look at some? Didn't wanna make. New post if not needed. I'm new to this and just want to learn. I love history, it simply amazes me where we came from and how we did things and used things. And being 20 miles away from a couple war battlefield I am convinced there is a bunch of artifacts on my land, which is many acres. Also a huge Cherokee Indian presence in the area back then but haven't found anything yet to so with Indian, I think. Although this one pottery piece I found and then went back and found more. Was able to piece 4 pieces together. Small but seems to be a water pitcher. Found it in our running creek where they were sure to be often for water, cleaning etc.

Horse shoes are very difficult to date as they haven't changed much throughout history but the top is definitely an old, probably iron, horse shoe. No idea on the middle item and it is interesting to learn about the ox shoe. Have you checked the records to learn about your specific piece of property?

Thank you all so much! All is much appreciated. Headed out in 30 mins for another dig! This is me and wife's dates lately. We don't care about movies or a restaurant, we just love exploring and finding pieces of history.

You can post them here. Makes it easier. Lets see what you found:rofl:

Hey everyone! Today was an exciting day. Found nails, barbed wire, and a few things I need your help on. Probably the most exciting was the bullet in the first picture. Not sure what it is exactly but soon cool to have found it. In the same picture not far from the bullet was what looks like a pistol hammer.not sure but maybe one of you know. The following two pictures which look like a hook and just not sure. Any ideas? All is metal of course...

The bullet is a post war 45 cal bullet. With the iron rust the other items are hard to ID
